The Indians have acquired veteran reserve infielder Jamey Carroll from the Rockies for a player to be named later. The 33-year old had his worst season of his major league career in 2007 with the Rockies. He played in 108 games last season and he was 51 for 227 (.225 avg, .617 OPS) with 45 runs scored, 2 homers, 22 RBIs and 6 stolen bases. Carroll has now played in 580 games in his major league career and he is 410 for 1,509 (.272 avg, .703 OPS) with 256 runs scored, 9 homers, 112 RBIs and 30 stolen bases. This move likely means that Josh Barfield will either start the year in the minors or get traded by the Indians before the season starts.
