The Cleveland Indians sign Austin Kearns
The Cleveland Indians have signed 30-year old righty swinging outfielder Austin Kearns to a 1-year, $1.3 million dollar deal. Kearns played in 84 games for the Indians last season and he was 82 of 301 (.272 avg, .772 OPS) with 42 runs scored, 8 homers, 42 RBIs and 4 stolen bases. Kearns played in 120 games overall last season with the Yankees & Indians and he was 106 of 403 (.263 avg, .746 OPS) with 55 runs scored, 10 homers, 49 RBIs and 4 stolen bases. Kearns has now played in 962 games in his first 9 years in the majors and he is 843 of 3,282 (.257 avg, .775 OPS) with 480 runs scored, 115 homers, 471 RBIs and 31 stolen bases. The Indians have decided to bring back Kearns because he played pretty well for them last season before they traded him to the Yankees for Zach McAllister.
