The Cleveland Indians sign Ben Francisco
The Indians have signed 31-year old righty swinging infielder Ben Francisco to a minor league deal. He played in 82 games for the Blue Jays, Astros and Rays last year in which he was 46 of 192 (.240 avg, .670 OPS) with 14 runs scored, 4 homers and 15 RBIs. He has now played in 542 games in his first six years in the majors and he is 395 of 1,535 (.257 avg, .751 OPS) with 195 runs scored, 49 homers, 189 RBIs and 30 stolen bases. Francisco played with the Indians for the first three years of his major league career. He has played in 235 games in his first three years with the Indians and he was 213 of 817 (.261 avg, .768 OPS) with 123 runs scored, 28 homers, 99 RBIs and 17 stolen bases. Francisco is going to have a good shot of winning a bench job with the Tribe this spring.
