The Indians have signed 29-year old righty reliever Matt Capps to a minor league deal.  Capps pitched in 30 games (0 starts) for the Twins last year and he was 1-4 with 14 saves, a 3.68 ERA and a 1.09 WHIP.  He has now pitched in 444 games (0 starts) in his first 8 years in the majors and he is 29-33 with 138 saves, a 3.52 ERA and a 1.19 WHIP.  This was a great pickup for the Indians as Capps is a battle tested late game reliever.

UPDATE:  (3/25/2013) – The Indians have released Matt Capps.  Capps pitched in 6 games (0 starts) for the Indians in spring training and he was 0-0 with 1 save, a 3.00 ERA and a 1.33 WHIP.

UPDATE II:  (3/26/2013) – The Indians have signed Matt Capps to a minor league deal.
