20-year old switch-hitting catcher Francisco Mejia came into this season as the Cleveland Indians‘ #10 prospect according to Baseball America.  The Tribe might wind up being glad one day that Jonathan Lucroy vetoed a deal that would have sent Mejia to the Brewers.  Mejia went 3 for 4 with a double last night, so he extends his hitting streak to an amazing 48 games this year!  Mejia has now played in 84 games in A-ball for the Indians so far this year and he is 118 of 339 (.348 avg) with 56 runs scored, 7 homers, 71 RBIs and 2 stolen bases.  Mejia has now played in 289 games in his first four years in the minors and he is 315 of 1,083 (.291 avg, .779 OPS) with 149 runs scored, 24 homers, 184 RBIs and 11 stolen bases.  Mejia has a huge upside!

19-year old righty starting pitcher Triston McKenzie came into this season as the Cleveland Indians‘ #8 prospect according to Baseball America.  McKenzie has pitched in 10 games (all starts) in Rookie+A-ball so far this year and he is 4-4 with a 0.99 ERA and a 0.94 WHIP!  He has now pitched in 16 games (13 starts) in his first two years in the minors and he is 5-5 with a 0.95 ERA and a 0.87 WHIP.  McKenzie has only given up 39 hits and 19 walks while whiffing 83 batters in his first 66 2/3 innings in the minors!  He has a huge upside and having him probably made the Tribe feel a little better about trading Justus Sheffield to the Yankees for Andrew Miller.
