The Cleveland Indians sign infielder Andy Gonzalez
The Cleveland Indians have signed reserve infielder Andy Gonzalez to a minor league contract. The 26-year old, righty swinger will have a hard time making the Indians roster based on his rookie performance last season for the White Sox. Gonzalez played in 67 games for the White Sox last season and he was 35 for 189 (.185 avg, .529 OPS) with 17 runs scored, 2 homers and 11 RBIs. Gonzalez was so overmatched at the major league level that he whiffed an amazing 61 times for the White Sox last season. Don’t look for him to help much next season for the Tribe.
